For some reason, everyone seems to think of acne as a teenaged phenomenon; a one-hit wonder that seemed to be everywhere you looked during your adolescent years, but that you grow out of when you reach adult life.
But the fact of the matter is that acne is actually a lot more common than most people think. Around one in five adults suffer from acne in the UK, and around 85% of people will experience it at some point in their lives. Those lucky enough to have their acne clear up with their teenage angst are just that – lucky! Literally thousands of people all across the UK are not so lucky and finding a treatment that actually works can be confusing and stressful – not to mention time-consuming!
This week on #SkinTheKnow, we’ll be talking about a chemical peel specifically designed for the treatment of acne, offering you the fast-acting, effective results you want, with a supporting regime to keep your skin looking beautiful.
Introducing the EnerPeel® SA
Now, if you suffer from acne, you may have had, or thought about having, a chemical peel in the past. It’s not uncommon, with many people finding that peels give them the results they are looking for faster and more effectively than other over-the-counter treatments – unsurprising given how many so-called ‘acne treatments’ can’t actually say that they treat acne (see our previous article to learn more).
But not all peels are created equal, and EnerPeel® SA was created better than most.
Salicylic Acid is a lipophilic monohydroxybenzoic acid, a type of phenolic acid, and a beta hydroxy acid, and is probably best known for its use as a key ingredient in topical anti-acne treatments.
EnerPeel® SA contains 30% Salicylic Acid but encapsulates it in a patented carrier solution, which allows the acid to be delivered deep into the skin, working more effectively than traditional peels. This carrier technology also allows us to incorporate other key ingredients, triethyl citrate and ethyl linoleate, which can be found in our Aknicare® products. The carrier system protects these ingredients from the blockage-busting salicylic acid, enabling us to send a high-strength, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredients into the infected hair follicle while letting the Salicylic Acid do its job within the skin. Our Aknicare® products will then work with the EnerPeel® SA to maintain your results long-term.
The fact that the Salicylic acid is released within the skin, rather than on the skin, results in dramatically less surface trauma and skin-shedding, without compromising the rejuvenation results, meaning it will still deliver outstanding skin remodelling with very little downtime.
Clinical studies based at five university hospitals treated patients whose resistant acne was defined as ‘unresolved’, even after using prescription medication for twelve months. These patients were prescribed a course of four EnerPeel® SA treatments, spaced two weeks apart, in conjunction with our anti-acne topical protocol; a selection of products medically proven to kill all antibiotic-resistant acne bacteria fast.
80% of those patients found a resolution to their acne from their treatment. In fact, EnerPeel® SA is the preferred choice of acne treatment of Professor Tony Chu, renowned dermatologist and president of the Acne and Rosacea Association UK.
